Pakistan condemns Afghan cross border shelling


ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani conveyed deep concern of the Government of Pakistan to the Afghan Ambassador ton Monday over the unprovoked border shelling by the Afghan forces last evening killing four civilians.
Condemning the attacks, the Foreign Secretary said that such attacks are unhelpful and unproductive, and would only vitiate the conducive environment that Pakistan is trying to create for promotion of peace and stability in the region. He also strongly urged the Afghan government to take appropriate measures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents in future.
On Sunday, Afghan National Army troops on fired mortar rounds from KK top killing four civilians including two children in north of Niz Narai.
Earlier while addressing the anti-drug regional conference between eleven countries in Islamabad, Jilani said Pakistan was seriously concerned over cross border infiltration from Afghanistan and this matter would be taken up with the Afghan government.
