Two armed groups clash in Sohrab Goth

KARACHI: Sohrab Goth and adjoining areas reverberated with intense firing as two armed groups clashed in the area following a day of violence that claimed around 20 lives in the city, Geo News reported on Sunday.
The firing left three people, including an ambulance driver and a Geo News reporter Zille Hyder, injured. Tension gripped the area and businesses activities came to a halt.
CNG stations and petrol pumps were closed after police and Rangers reached to the spot and cordoned off the area.
Sectarian violence continues to haunt the city, as law enforcers remain helpless to restore law and order in the country’s commercial hub.
Sindh IG on Sunday linked the latest spree of targeted killings with the upcoming month of Muharram. He appealed to the Ulema and religious scholars to play their role in bringing peace to the city.
