CJ says, CEC plea to hold elections under judiciary will be reviewed


LAHORE: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary Saturday termed the general elections as a national matter which strengthen the state institutions, Geo News reported.
Chairing a meeting of National Judicial Policy Making Committee here at SC Lahore registry, the Chief Justice said ‘holding elections as per the constitution is a constitutional victory’.
He said the judiciary respects all the political parties, adding owing to the allegations of rigging a restriction had been imposed on judges of lower courts being part of the electoral process.
The CJ said the requests of election commission and political parties to hold elections under the supervision of judiciary would be reviewed.
CJ Iftikhar Chaudhary thanked all the political parties and ECP for reposing confidence in the judiciary.
